The DIGISPORT Forum was held this Friday, June 20, 2025.
This day was filled with meaningful exchanges, discoveries, and inspiration around sports and digital innovation.

• The event featured keynote sessions led by professionals from various sectors:

Deneo presented their care pathway monitoring solution for health and sport-health teams, with Maud Rouillard, CEO.
Ochy showcased their AI-based running gait analysis solutions, presented by co-founder Perrine Chapot-Evans.
Avisia introduced their data analysis solutions for sports, with insights from Hugo Tuffin and Tom Houée, Data Science Consultants.
Moovency discussed their screening and prevention tools for musculoskeletal disorders, led by François Morin, co-founder and CEO.
Trinoma and Photon Lines explored inertial and optical measurement systems for motion analysis and modeling, with contributions from Marie Leblanc (Application Engineer & Sport-Health Specialist at Trinoma), Gauthier Rispal (Technical Sales Engineer at Trinoma), and Julien Romann (R&D Manager at Photon Lines).
Sport Bretagne shared their approach to enhancing coaching data, with Rémy Masson (Head of Scientific Performance Support) and Ademi Chegou (M1 MAS intern).
Cosmed presented innovative solutions for evaluating lung function, metabolism, and body composition, represented by Olivier Piron (Sales Manager) and Paul Ngip (Business Development Manager).

• The forum also featured the “My Thesis in 180 Seconds” presentations by DIGISPORT PhD candidates:

Rossella Rizzo – Tissue-equivalent phantoms for testing millimeter wave devices
Koffi Amezouwui – Clustering football possession sequences using a mixture model of absorbing Markov point processes
Oumaima Badi – Photorealistic human motion and style transfer to enhance sports training
Florian Mateos – Using virtual reality to assess and improve decision-making in football
Nolwenn Poquerusse – Evaluating reactive agility in elite athletes on the field
Suzon Pucheu – Methodology for quantifying landing forces in gymnastics
David Martin – Conceptual approach to eliminate confounding effects in big data and its implications for machine learning
Nolwenn Regnault – Optimizing rider-horse interactions in show jumping
Jos Deforges – Development of a virtual reality Adapted Physical Activity program for cancer patients: from design to clinical evaluation
Clélia Boulati – Analysis of spatio-temporal coordination in team sports for behavioral modeling in virtual environments, with a focus on rugby lineouts

• The day concluded with an informal networking session, allowing participants and speakers to exchange ideas and experiences.

On Monday, February 24, EUR DIGISPORT hosted a roundtable discussion on the contribution of digital sciences to high-level boxing.

On this occasion, we welcomed Léonardo Mosquea, two-time French champion and European light heavyweight champion in English boxing, as well as the new patron of the 2024-2025 Master’s program in Digital Sciences and Sport.

The roundtable was moderated by:

Chloé Lesenne, head of the Performance Optimization Unit at the French Boxing Federation (FFBoxe),
Lionel Reveret, researcher at the Inria Grenoble Rhône-Alpes center and coordinator of the PerfAnalytics project,
Richard Kulpa, leader of EUR DIGISPORT, researcher at the M2S laboratory, and coordinator of the REVEA project at the Inria center in Rennes.

DIGISPORT organizes a new scientific lunch !

This time we welcome Edmond S. L. Ho !

Edmond S. L. Ho is currently a Senior Lecturer in the School of Computing Science (IDA-Section) at the University of Glasgow, Scotland, UK. Prior to joining the University of Glasgow in 2022, he was an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences at Northumbria University, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK (2016-2022) and a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Hong Kong Baptist University (2011-2016). He has been an Associate Editor of Computer Graphics Forum (CGF) since 2023. He received the BSc degree in Computer Science from the Hong Kong Baptist University, the MPhil degree from the City University of Hong Kong, and the PhD degree from the University of Edinburgh.

Edmond will talk about Predicting Neurological Disorders from 2D and 3D Skeletal Motion Data.
Automating the prediction and classification of neurological disorders leads to a wide range of benefits, including time and cost savings for both the clinicians and patients/carers, reducing the risk of human error and subjectivity in the assessment, as well as supporting remote assessment to minimize the geographical barriers for providing timely healthcare support.

In this talk, a wide range of our team’s ongoing research on human motion analysis, from 2D and 3D motion data, for predicting and classifying neurological disorders will be presented. In particular, our methods are mostly focused on using machine learning techniques for analysing skeletal motion data extracted from vision-based sensors. We further enhanced the interpretability of the proposed models with intuitive visualization.

Victor Dequidt, co-founder and CTO of OCHY and Benjamin Niay, PhD in Computer Science will present how OCHY is using computer vision, AI and biomechanics in the running industry.

They will then present the use of their AI system in collecting and interpreting biomechanical data in running, to produce a biomechanical analysis accessible to everyone using smartphone recordings.

Guillaume Saulière, a biostatistics researcher at INSEP, and Alexandre Schortgen, a PhD student in computer science at INRIA, will present the priority research project PerfAnalytics, funded by the National Research Agency. This presentation will highlight the main results of the project, illustrated with application examples from various Olympic and Paralympic sports.

In the second part, the markerless motion analysis methods developed by PerfAnalytics will be showcased through an athletic profiling case study. A video-based estimation of mechanical power produced during counter movement jumps will be compared with results measured by force platforms.

This Thursday, November 14, the Open Innovation Camp organized by the Pôle Images & Réseaux took place at Roazhon Park.

DIGISPORT was present to showcase the REVEA project in collaboration with the M2S Laboratory, focusing on virtual reality (VR) boxing practice.

Richard Kulpa, co-leader of the DIGISPORT EUR, also delivered a conference on the use of digital technologies in high-performance sports.

Antoine Falisse, postdoctoral researcher in bioengineering at Stanford University and co-developer of OpenCap.ai, will lead a conference at the DIGISPORT 2024 Winter School. He will talk about OpenCap, an open-source software that provides its users with instant detailed analysis of their movement and posture from video data, without requiring specific skills or advanced equipment.

In this talk, he will go over the methods and validation studies he conducted, and present a series of applications related to sports performance, injury prevention, and rehabilitation. He will highlight strengths and limitations of the system and share thoughts for future directions.
