From November 26 to 28, 2025, the second edition of the DIGISPORT Winter School took place, focusing on the topic of digital change in physical activity and health.

Wednesday, November 26:

After an introduction by Alexis Le Faucheur (ENS), the morning continued with two highly informative plenary sessions.

Monique Mendelson (Université Grenoble Alpes) opened the program with her talk entitled “From movement to sleep: advances and challenges in accelerometer-based sleep assessment in health research.”
She was followed by Pedro Saint-Maurice (Champalimaud Foundation), who presented “Wearables for cancer research: applications to measuring movement behavior.”

In the afternoon, two hands-on workshops were held.
First, Germain Faity (ENS) led a workshop on using the GGIR package to analyze accelerometer data for physical activity assessment.
Then, Monique Mendelson led a second workshop focusing on the use of ActiLife® to analyze accelerometer data for sleep assessment.

Thursday, November 27:

The day began with Amélie Rébillard and Benoît Bideau, who introduced the day’s theme on virtual reality and health.

The morning was then enriched by three particularly engaging plenary sessions:
Lars Riedemann (University Hospital Heidelberg) started with a lecture entitled “From media hype to health: finding the real sweet spot.”
Stefan Liszio (Universität Duisburg-Essen) followed with a presentation on the use of virtual-reality-based interventions to promote patient well-being and reduce anxiety, stress, and pain in clinical settings.
Finally, Hadrien CEYTE (Aix-Marseille Université) gave a fascinating session on cybersickness and its challenges in VR applications.

The afternoon was dedicated to an immersive workshop led by Jos Deforges (Université Rennes 2) and Etienne Briere (Université Rennes 2), focusing on the use of an active VR video game to promote adapted physical activity in oncology, demonstrating how real-time adjustments can optimize patient health and well-being.

The day ended with a gala evening, the perfect opportunity to continue discussions in a festive atmosphere.

Friday, November 28:

The closing session of this year’s edition featured two particularly interesting presentations.

We first welcomed Christian Lindharth from SENS Innovation, who spoke on: “Advancing sensor-based activity tracking for reliable long-term movement monitoring.”

Then, Julien Lomet (IRISA) presented the “Creative Harmony” project, a collaborative immersive virtual-reality experience inviting participants to co-create a virtual landscape through gesture interaction.

The day concluded with a friendly buffet, offering one last moment for discussion.

The entire DIGISPORT team extends its warmest thanks to all speakers and participants for the quality of their contributions and their commitment, which greatly contributed to the success of this edition.
